CORTEN STEELS

W. Nr 1.8946 / S355J2WP+N / CORTEN A

Category: Corten Steel
Product Features: Weathering means that due to its chemical composition the COR-TEN A steel, when utilised unprotected, exhibits increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to unalloyed steels. This is because it forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather. The corrosion retarding effect of the protective layer is produced by the nature of its structure components and the particular distribution and concentration of alloying elements in it. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather.
Usage Areas: The steel is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.

W. Nr 1.8965 / S355J2W+N / CORTEN B

Category: Corten Steel
Product Features: When used without corrosion due to its chemical composition, the COR-TEN B steel exhibits increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to unalloyed steels. The reason for this is that it creates a protective layer on the surface under the influence of the air. The corrosion-retarding effect of the protective layer is produced by the nature of the constituent components and by the specific distribution and concentration of the alloy elements therein. The layer that protects the surface constantly evolves and reappears when exposed to the effects of air.
Usage Areas: The steel is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
